A Cassegrain telescope comprising a concave  primary mirror,  convex secondary mirror and  refractive two-element Germanium eyepice can be added to the CVROS scanner.  This yields a very compact long focal length, large aperture,  high resolution system for observing distant objects in the infrared 8-12 micrometer waveband.

A very compact thermal imaging camera with a Cassegrain telescope, detector and cryogenic cooler  is illustrated in the photo below next to a 6 inch scale.
