A “digiscope” is the combination of a telescope and digital camera.for photography of distant objects. Typically, it comprises a compact telescope with an aperture of 60-100mm and a compact digital camera mounted behind the telescope eyepiece. The assembly is secured to a stable tripod.
The author’s initial experience with digiscoping and an analysis of the results is presented in the accompanying Powerpoint presentation, “Digiscoping Tutorial”. The presentation addresses the requirements of the telescope and camera and their usage to achieve very high photographic resolution near the theoretical limit as detrermined by the aperture size of the telescope.
